Vision

NEMPN builds supportive communities of practice for emerging museum professionals and advocates for forward-thinking, ethical museum work at all levels.

We aspire to make the museum field equitable, inclusive, and accessible for all.

Core Values

The National EMP Network strives to achieve our mission and vision with the following core values guiding our way:

  • Advocacy: Leading and amplifying work to improve museum working conditions and make the field a better place to work.

  • Empathy: Creating brave spaces to acknowledge and respect that everyone has unique identities, journeys, and experiences that affect their museum work.

  • Inclusion: Intentionally making a welcoming and equitable space for all voices within the museum field, especially those that have been historically marginalized, and reducing barriers to access.

  • Integrity: Working with intention to uphold our values and develop trust within our network of community members and partners through truthful, ethical behavior.

  • Transparency: Establishing a free flow of information and ideas to allow contributions from many voices in NEMPN programs and operation.
