NEMPN Leadership
The National Emerging Museum Professional Network is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Each Director serves 2-6 years (up to 3 consecutive terms) and participates in monthly meetings. Most directors also chair a committee comprised of volunteer members.

This committee is responsible for maintenance and updates to the online presence for NEMPN, including its social media accounts and website. The committee also oversees major internal and external communications from the organization such as newsletters, press releases, sponsorship materials, and general public relations and marketing of the organization’s programmatic activities. This committee is responsible for promoting organization programs to appropriate audiences, and performing content audits regularly to ensure up-to-date information sharing.

This committee is responsible for the development, facilitation, and evaluation of community-focused initiatives and programming. This may include planning social events for NEMPN members, and planning public programs related to advocacy and training opportunities in partnership with the Advocacy Committee. The committee is expected to host regular member meetings to connect NEMPN members and collaborate with them to build the NEMPN community.

This committee is responsible for the fundraising and financial development of the organization. This committee will oversee all sponsorships, financial partnerships, grants, and any fiscal responsibilities that will arise for the organization. Their work should also include any partner lifecycle management, outreach, and fundraising activity management, including NEMPN merchandise offerings. They will ensure the ethical and accurate tracking and management of NEMPN’s financial resources in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and all policies and procedures.

This committee is responsible for all advocacy initiatives that the organization partakes in, such as Museum Worker’s Advocacy Day, in addition to the development, implementation, and maintenance of advocacy initiatives for the benefit of the overall community as is legally permitted.

This committee is responsible for recruitment of Board and Committee members, and overseeing succession procedures in these roles. The committee is expected to assign interested Committee members to Committees based on applicant interest and Committee needs. Every two years, the Committee is responsible for a review of the organization’s bylaws, in addition to the mission, vision, and values of the organization, especially the Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion (DEAI) policies and procedures, with assistance from the Secretary. The Governance Committee is also responsible for the collection and auditing of the bylaws of all affiliated Chapters.
